Your Solution for Prostate Health

About Fixtate

Fixtate is an all-natural product designed for symptoms of urinary frequency due to prostate dysfunction in men. In particular, Fixtate helps to alleviate symptoms of urinary urgency, urinary frequency, and frequent night time urination (also called nocturia) which are hallmarks of a common condition in men called benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH.)

What are the causes of prostate enlargement?

The prostate can become enlarged due to several medical conditions that range from benign to very serious. Inflammation can be a cause of prostate enlargement, due to infections or repetitive physical trauma such as cycling. A very serious cause of prostatic enlargement is prostate cancer. It is very important to have a full prostate work up by your primary care physician and/or urologist (a physician that specializes in prostate and bladder dysfunction) if you have symptoms of frequent urination, urinary urgency, or any difficulties starting or stopping your urine stream. BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia) is one of the most common causes of urinary dysfunction in men.

What are the causes of urinary problems in men?

Urinary frequency and urgency can be caused by several medical conditions. Some of the most common include high blood pressure and high blood sugar levels as seen in diabetes. Problems with the bladder can also cause urinary frequency and urgency including infection, inflammation, and bladder cancer. And the same symptoms can be attributed to prostate infection, inflammation, and prostate cancer. There are also neurologic disorders that may cause symptoms of urinary frequency and urgency.
Urinary problems can also be due to anatomical anomalies such as urethral strictures. This is why it is very important that all urinary problems have a comprehensive work up by a physician to pin point where the problem may be.

What is BPH or benign prostatic hyperplasia?

BPH refers to the presence of urinary dysfunction such as hesitancy, decreased force and caliber of urine stream, sensation of incomplete bladder emptying, straining or dribbling, or urinary urgency, frequency, and/or nocturia; in the absence of urinary tract infections, neurologic disorders, and prostatic or bladder cancers, and anatomical anomalies. In order for BPH to be diagnosed, other more serious medical conditions must be excluded first. On physical examination performed by a healthcare provider, there may or may not be presence of an enlarged prostate. The prevalence of BPH in autopsy studies is estimated at 20% in men ages 41-50, 50% in men ages 51-60, and 90% in men over the age of 80. BPH is known as the most common benign tumor in men, and its incidence is related to aging.

What is Fixtate?

Fixtate is a new product designed to help alleviate urinary frequency in men who suffer from symptoms of prostate dysfuntion/BPH. Fixtate is not a treatment for urinary tract infections, prostate or bladder cancers, or any neurologic or anatomical disorders that may cause urinary flow dysfunction. Fixtate is derived from plant based compounds, and its composition is discussed further below. Although BPH is a benign enlargement of the prostate, the irritative symptoms of this disorder wreak havoc in the lives of men. The constant urgency for urination, the urinary frequency, the decreased force and caliber of urinary stream, and the feeling of incomplete bladder emptying can be frustrating. But the symptom that can cause a very direct impact on the quality of life in men, is the frequent night time urination that is caused by BPH. The nocturia causes constant interruptions in sleep that ultimately result in chronic fatigue, irritability in mood, and very poor daytime focus and concentration that are a direct result of lack of sleep and rest. Fixtate may help your prostate function, and ultimately reduce or even alleviate symptoms of frequent night time urination.

What is in Fixtate?

Fixtate is an all-natural plant based formula. The primary composition of Fixtate is the following: Terpodiene, gamma Terpinene, alpha and beta pinene, alpha terpineol, nerolidol, terpinolene, 4-terpineol, alpha-bergamotene, alpha-cedrene, fenchol, and beta-elemene.

All of these compounds are plant based, and no forms of synthetic compounds are used in Fixtate.

What are some traditional prescription medications used for BPH?

If you have irritative urinary symptoms due to BPH, your physician may prescribe you some medications to help with such symptoms. Fixxtate is generally safe to take with these medications. Alpha-Blockers (such as Prazosin, Terazosin, Tamsulosin, and others): Alpha blockers have been around for years, and are very popular in treating symptoms of BPH. All such medications have been shown in several studies to be more effective than placebo in treating symptoms irritative symptoms of BPH.

Currently the most popular medication in this class is Tamsulosin, because it is a newer generation alpha blocker and usually has fewer side effects than the older generation medications such as Prazosin and Terazosin. Side effects of such medications may include orthostatic hypotension (a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing from a sitting or lying position), dizziness, tiredness, headache, and rhinitis (watery nose).

5-alpha- reducase inhibitors (such as finasteride): This medication works to reduce the symptoms of BPH by reducing the size of the prostate, usually by no more than 20%. However, symptomatic improvement is seen only in men with an enlarged prostate (greater than 40 mL in volume done by ultrasonographic examination.) Many men may have severe irritative symptoms of BPH, and not have an enlarged prostate at the same time. Side effects of finasteride includes decreased libido and impotence. Finasteride has been shown in several studies to reduce symptoms of BPH in men who have a confirmed enlarged prostate greater than 40 mL on ultrasound with moderate to severe symptoms.

Phytotherapy as a treatment for symptoms of BPH:
Phytotherapy is the use of plants or plant extracts for medicinal purposes. Its use in BPH has been popular in Europe for years, and its use in the United States is growing as a result of patient-driven enthusiasm. Due to side effects of traditional prescription medications, and sometimes ineffectiveness, men have been turning to alternatives for their symptoms of BPH.

Several plant extracts have been popularized, including saw palmetto berry, the bark of Pygeum africanum, the roots of Echinacea purpurea, and hypoxis rooperi.
